This policy explains how cancellations and refunds are handled for Africa Last Minute safaris, excursions, transfers, beach holidays and tailor-made travel services.

Travel plans can change. Africa Last Minute aims to handle cancellations and refunds clearly and fairly while respecting the policies of lodges, hotels, airlines, park authorities, permit offices, boat operators, activity providers and other suppliers involved in the booking.
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing by email or another written channel accepted by Africa Last Minute. The cancellation date is the date on which Africa Last Minute receives the written cancellation request, not the date the traveller stopped communicating or failed to arrive.
Unless the quotation, invoice, supplier terms or special offer states otherwise, the following cancellation charges apply:
| Period | Charge |
|---|---|
| up to 65 days before commencement of the safari | zero cancellation charges |
| up to 30 days before commencement of the safari | 20% cancellation charges |
| up to 20 days before commencement of the safari | 40% cancellation charges |
| less than 15 days but more than 4 days before safari start | 60% cancellation charges |
| 4 days or less before commencement of the safari | zero refund, 100% cancellation charges apply |
Short excursions, day tours, transfers, flight safaris, boat trips, special activities and last-minute bookings may have stricter cancellation terms because services are often confirmed quickly with suppliers. Full payment may be required for bookings close to departure.
Where a refund is approved, Africa Last Minute will process it after confirming recoverable amounts from suppliers. Refunds may be returned to the original payment card where possible, or to a traveller’s bank account where card refund is not available or practical.
Refund timelines depend on supplier processing, banks, card providers, payment gateways and international transfer systems.
Where part of a booking has already been paid to suppliers, the refundable amount may depend on what can be recovered. If conservation, park or supplier fees are refundable under the relevant authority’s rules, Africa Last Minute will include the recoverable amount in the refund calculation.
If a traveller fails to arrive for a confirmed service without written cancellation, the booking may be treated as a no-show. No-shows may attract 100% cancellation charges.
Where possible, Africa Last Minute may assist with date changes, alternative routing, substitution of accommodation or travel credit. Changes are subject to availability, supplier approval and any fare, rate or fee differences.
Send a written cancellation request to Africa Last Minute. The cancellation date is the date we receive the written request.
Not always. Some supplier fees, permits, flights, bank charges or special rates may be non-refundable even when cancellation is made early.
